Audio Receiver
I am looking for the 5 digit code for an audio receiver to match with my comcast remote control?
it is an Aiwa av-d58 audio receiver and in the list that comcast gives does not work for the receiver any help??
Are you setting the code to the "aux" button on the remote? that is the only one that will work any audio receivers. also, i have an onkyo & it only turns my unit on & controls volume, nothing else works. so their codes are not that great, but those are specific to the remote. the list from comcast is complete, so what you have, is what you get.

What is a good brand for an audio receiver?
Im looking for a new receiver for my home theater. I want something that has alot of inputs and especially for connecting an iPod to. Not too expensive about under $400 but that offers clear and crisp sound. Im also an audiophile and i make music, so i need something that will produce sound accurately. Someone has told me Yamaha receivers were good, what about Harmon Kardon or Sony? What are some other good brands that I should look for?
Well.. for that price you are in the low-end of most receiver ranges.
For a while the Onkyo TX-SR series has been winning "Best of the Year" and "Editors Choice" from the review magazines. However - this is because they start at about $380 but include lots of bells like extra HDMI connections, iPod connections, sat Radio connections, auto-calibration, etc.
For most people - this would be a great choice.
But for music - they tend to save money on the amp section. (And frankly - compressed MP3 music and home theater is not as much of a challenge as un-compressed CD's).
Yamaha does have a good reputation for their amps - although they are considered 'harsh' because they do not roll off the high-frequecy sounds. Many receivers do this to make the electronics sound 'better' but audiophiles hate the roll-off.
I would avoid Harmon Kardon and Kenwood. Only the Sony ES series of receivers are decent for music and Sony pumps out hundreds of indifferent models to sell as Wallmart and Sams Clubs that do work - but are not really very good for music.
If you are an audiophile - chances are you wont find anything for $400 that works well new. Hit your local Craigslist and find someones old but decent flagship receiver for that money.
